Ha ha--I already took all the presents out of the bag.
Komi eats bows.. and when she can't get to those, wrapping paper. Mostly bows. She also tore open one of the cat food bags I bought last night for Santa Paws. -.-
That's when the NON lap kitty decides to change her colors.
Thanks to Pete, I now have a NEW and absolutely fabulous digital camera with no fuzzy picture quality! I'm in love and spent a lot of time taking pictures (mostly of Pete. I mean, I was with him for the better part of two weeks, what else am I supposed to take a picture of?). Here's an example of one of the videos I took. Komi's attacking the fox tail I wound up giving her last year since she wouldn't leave my costume alone.
Ultrasound: Okay so Monday night failed completely. While I was able to stick the needle into Komi, Sven and my mom had a hard time keeping her still. Combine that with her crying, meowing, and my sensitivities to the plight of a speechless animal, you can understand why I pulled the thing out. Last night we went back to the vet and they gave her the 100mg (do I have the right thing here? aren't liquids measured in liters?) she needed and I made an appointment for today just in case we decide we can't do it again tonight. Sven's mad because it's $12 every time the
vet gives her the I.V. (technician fee since we have the fluids and needles), but he won't stick it in because he didn't "see her do it". It's not that hard to stick it in... it's keeping it in there that's the problem! It's only easier at the vet because she's scared and oh so calm in her fear...
Ellen and I dropped him off at Dixon so he could get her in at 2:00 to do the
ultrasound (takes an hour) while we went to the signing. So as it turns out, she's pretty much fine. There's nothing wrong with the size of her kidneys (which the Suisun vet told us there was) and said she probably ate something that will just take time to flush from her system. BUT we're going back to the Suisun vet for some bloodwork tonight (poor kitty). Sanderson/Wolverton/Modesitt signing: Long long story. To begin with, I wasn't even sure if I was going to get to go or not because our signing was cancelled and then Komi got sick and we had to go to Dixon during what I thought would be the signing times...It turns out Brandon's website had the time wrong! I get home, get ready, and call Mark to ask when they're going to be in Citrus Heights aaaaaaaaaand 'lo and behold. They got there at 11 and were leaving around 1. It was 1:00 when I called. I had called OUR store previously to ask Jessica if she had gotten the posters signed for me, but she told me no one had been there yet...
Well, I call back to talk to Mark and see if they're going to come to our store
after all just to sign some stock and he puts BRANDON on the phone! Ohh how exciting! I was so nervous! He's such a nice guy, and sounded really understanding. It would have been out of their way to make it back to Fairfield and I completely understand. He said he had wanted to be able to come to Fairfield to meet me (gasp! ME!) since I had made everything happen, so hopefully another time. They decided to swap some stock so our store would have some signed books AND I managed to get a promise for some signed bookplates for Ellen and I (he's read Courtship, too! ^_^), the s igned posters (because Key sent ours over there), and a big thank you from Brandon himself for going through all this hard work. Thank you so much, Brandon! Ellen and I went out there after we dropped Sven off in Dixon with Komi and surprised Mark with the visit. I picked up my bookplates and posters. Ellen and I also purchased some of Lee and Dave's other books as well. It was really fun, although traffic was nuts.I wish I could have met all of them, but maybe next year!! They did a tour last year as well, so hopefully next year we'll be able to have them at our store! Thank you again, all of you! The messages you left on the bookplates for me were WONDERFUL! Thanks so much to Ellen for making it a girls-only road trip :)
I will have pictures of the posters soon.
p.s. Kiera Knightley as Cecelia Tallis? UGH! Just.. no.
